August 2024 Newsletter
2024-08-06
Hi Everyone.
Our summer is whizzing by, and before you know it, September will be here. Enjoy this time; my garden is producing faster than we can eat, and the fresh fruit is in abundance. I especially like the watermelon nice and cold from the fridge, it seems to hit the spot and quench my thirst. We’ve had summer visitors and more coming this month to enjoy our beautiful town. Parksville is such a go-to place, and it’s interesting talking to people who live all over Canada and the States. Some have told me it’s the first visit, but they’ll be back, and others told me twenty years from now we’ll be retiring here. I always knew I’d retire here, and Bill didn’t need any convincing. We’ve found our forever home, and we’re grateful.
Just to let you know what’s going on in August. August Fitness, Yoga and Chair, Tuesday and Wednesday, and Thursday classes go ahead with a few cancellations, as well as an opportunity to enjoy a number of classes with a guest instructor.
Call the centre at (250) 248-3200, or check the Fitness Bulletin Board to make sure the classes you are looking for are on for that day. Note: all classes are cancelled the last week in August. Exciting additions to our Fitness, Yoga and Chair classes starting in September
From our President Patti: Although the Centre will be open on Friday, September 6th there will be no activities that day. Caledonia Fire Services will be in the Centre re-doing the sprinkler system. This will probably take all day. They are also doing some other minor repairs, such as changing the burnt-out exit sign. Sorry about the inconvenience but it is required in order for the Centre to have up-to-date equipment, in case of a fire. Thank you, Patti, for taking such good care of us!!!!!
I don’t have much else to let you know about except the Centre would be so happy to have you volunteer in our busy kitchen once the Fall starts. If you like to cook and if you could put together a hot lunch for up to 14 people once in a while, (you would have help) the Centre would love to hear from you. Please call the Office number, (250) 248-3200. We try to have this hot lunch on Fridays to end the week with a smile. Making great friends is always easier when you volunteer with them. I love the laughter in the Kitchen when I stay for lunch on Mondays.
Volunteering for the Centre has been the best job I’ve ever done, and I do enjoy the people I see every week.
I will be putting out another Newsletter at the end of this month. This Newsletter will have the Fall Schedule so you’ll be set to know what classes you’ll be taking in September.
In the meantime, continue to enjoy your summer, stay safe, and have fun.

Editor
