September 2022 Newletter

It’s time once again to get a newsletter out to all of you. First: our yoga instructor Jane for Wednesday mornings has retired. Yoga is still offered on Tuesday mornings from 10:15 – 11:15 and chair Yoga from 11:30 – 12:15. Cost is $7.00 and $5.00 for chair yoga. The Board of Directors wish Jane all the best and a big thank-you for leading these activities. If you know of a yoga instructor who is certified by B.C. Parks and Recreation and belongs to the Yoga Alliance and would like to work with seniors, please contact the office. We need her or him!

Our annual general meeting (AGM) will be held on October 26th at 1:00 p.m. There will be no activities that day. This is an important meeting, our President Liz Hintz is stepping down after serving us wonderfully for 6 years. Our Centre has been very lucky to have had this dedicated volunteer who has taken care of us and our Centre, without complaint, and in an efficient manner. There has never been a time, when Liz was asked a question she couldn’t answer, and I knew the Centre was in very good hands. Liz will be staying with the Centre and will be there to help the incoming officers. She truly is a blessing.

We need more volunteers to help us run the Centre. Every day we have two members who take either a morning or afternoon shift of 3 1/2 hours to welcome possible new members to our Centre. This is not a difficult job; you only have to like people. It would be wonderful if we could have a big enough roster so each of us would only have this job once every two weeks, and it would be wonderful if we had spares as well. I know we all have busy lives but a few hours could be spent volunteering, and this in turn could make light work. Please let us know if you could help us! We need YOU!

Our membership has grown to 350 people and on November 14th we will begin our renewal of your membership for 2023. Your membership only costs $20.00, and you can put this little thing out of your mind once you pay it. Thank you!

Bingo is beginning once again on Tuesday Oct 4th from 1:00 till 3:00 p.m. Come join us for an afternoon of fun.

The Tech person will be starting at 9:00 a.m. on Monday the 3rd of October. Come learn how to use that darn thing? Send us an e-mail or call us at the Centre to reserve a time.

Our winner of the draw this month is Laurie Fuller, congratulations Laurie.
