Happy Summer Everyone,
We have lots of News to tell you in this Newsletter. The Centre will be having a Meet and Greet time, August 3rd to August 6th from 10:00 to 2:00 and we’ll be having cake and cookies, coffee and tea as a treat for you. The Board members will be there to answer any of your questions and ask YOU if you could spare a few hours to help out with the programs that will be offered in the Fall, beginning on September 7th. We will be looking for Kitchen helpers, for fitness classes, for money collectors, Bingo callers and cashiers, and I hope for greeters who will be welcoming back all our members. This Greet time will really go well if you tell your friends and neighbours, who haven’t yet registered and paid for their dues, to get our Centre off to a fabulous start. IT WOULD BE APPRECIATED IF YOU’VE HAD YOUR SHOTS, or at least one shot, for the betterment of all.
September 7th, 9:00 till 3:30 will be our opening day. Choir will begin September 13th, and with the exception of Bingo which will begin in November, all programs will start. We will have a waiver for you to sign for Insurance purposes to protect the Centre.
The Centre has had two draws so far for a $20.00 Thrifty gift certificate and the winners have been Kathy Green, and Robert Dolman. Both winners were delighted with their winnings, so if you’re not a member yet, this is a good time for you to sign up. Next draw will be on July 28th and maybe you’ll be the lucky one.
I was sent this little laughter in my email and I thought you’d get a laugh too!!!!
A Senior’s Version of Facebook
For those of my generation who do not, and cannot, comprehend why Facebook exists: I am trying to make friends outside of Facebook while applying the same principles. Therefore every day I walk down the street and tell passers-by what I have eaten, how I feel at the moment, what I have done the night before, what I will do later and with whom. I give them pictures of my family, my dog, and of me gardening, taking things apart in the garage, watering my lawn, standing in front of landmarks, driving around town, having lunch, and doing what anybody and everybody does each day. I also listen to their conversations, give them “thumbs up” and tell them I “like” them and it works just like Facebook. I already have 4 people following me: 2 police officers, a private investigator, and a psychiatrist.
So my friends this is our life, and I love it. COVID is almost over, we can hug our family and friends, and we can shake hands and create new friendships. Hopefully all of us will appreciate the freedom we have, and never take for granted our fellow human beings.
Love not Hate is what we all will look forward to. See you on August 3rd.

Information from our Librarian, Kate Walter:
It is probably safe to say that a lot of us have many books that we have accumulated over the last 18 months. If you would like to donate them to the centre please bring them along when you come for the Greet August 3rd to 6th. We will, of course, still have our lending library up and running, but if we get a lot more books we will have a book sale, with all proceeds going to the Seniors Centre for programs and expenses. The price will be $1 per book, which is really inexpensive, even when compared to second hand book stores or the charity shops. Feel free to participate. Please note that if you bring hard cover books they will automatically go into the book sale as we do not have room to shelve them with the books for loaning.
We are looking forward to seeing all of you soon. Until then, happy reading.
